Infant Newsletter June 2011- Click here to download

Dear Parents

Welcome back after the holidays. I hope you have enjoyed the holiday. If the sunny weather returns please remember to put sun-cream on your child and send in NAMED sun-cream for your child to reapply later in the day.
Also please send your child to school with a sun hat so that

they can enjoy the better weather, when it returns!

Our new starter began their visits into school last Thursday. They had a great time and all the children made them feel very welcome.

Reading
Everybody read over the half term holiday and it shows in the children's reading. Please keep reading with your child.

Plan, Do, Review
Now that our Creative Partnership work has come to an end we will be having a Plan, Do, Review day in the Infants on a Thursday. This will allow the children time to plan their own work for the day, choosing their own learning focus. Mrs Fisher and I will work closely with each child or group of children to guide them along the way. At the end of the day the children will review their work and set targets for the next week.

Transition to the Juniors
On Friday the 15th of July the children in year two will spend the day in the Junior classroom with Mrs Boucetla. This will give them a taster for September and enable them to become familiar with the junior classroom.

Our topic for this half term is Seaside Towns
As usual, where possible links will be made between subjects.

In Literacy we will be focusing on James and the Giant Peach by Roald Dahl.

In Numeracy we will be following the Numeracy. Strategy which includes counting and number as well as data handling.

In our Topic work we will be looking all things to do with seaside towns and how towns are different to the countryside and also how seaside holidays have changed since the Victorian times. We will also be looking at art by famous artists and using this as stimuli for our own music compositions.

In R.E. we will be learning about places of worship and how they are special places.

In ICT the years one and two will continue to be looking at safe emails, how

to send them and how to open them.

In PE we will be developing our throwing and catching as well as football skills. So lets hope the weather is dry.

King Regards
